Bio

Whether it’s for college applications, standardized tests, or class assignments—learning to read and write sets you on a path. Today, I am an English tutor graduating from an Ivy League university. But as a young person, I pivoted a lot. I transferred from private day school to homeschool to community college. Throughout everything, it was reading and writing that propelled me forward. They changed my life. I joined Tutorly to help students change theirs too.

Tutoring style

“Students learn best when they’re engaged. I believe that starts with a conversation about your learning needs—so that I can adapt to them. This is my main tutoring style: adaptation.

That said, a couple of my favorite teaching styles are: 1. Socratic Method. When we answer questions, it’s a way of building critical thinking skills in order to walk away from sessions with confidence. 2. Rhythmic. Sometimes, grammar doesn’t feel intuitive (especially if English isn’t your first language). I find there is a natural rhythm to grammar. I help students slowly sound out how to write a line by considering its rhythm in common conversation. “
